Europe Car Market: Combating Threat from (blogs) the Japanese Manufacturers

By Eucarsale Eucarsale

The Europeans enjoy a relatively high standard of living that is comparable only to that of the United States and Canada, which recently has also been achieved by Japan and South Korea. However, due to its long history of conflict and political turmoil, the countries in Europe did not achieve regional peace until recently. With the reunification of Germany, these countries tried to establish a single economic entity called the European Union, which aims to further the economic growth of the area against increasing American and Asian threats. The Europe car market is one area that they are focusing on.

The Japanese peoples penchant for technology has brought the country into the forefront of technological advancement. Today, it is one of the prime sources of technological products, more importantly on cars. The Japanese encroachment on the European market has created such a threat to European cars that it now has a large segment of the car market in Europe. With it came the barrage of Japanese car models that has flooded the Europe car market.

The Japanese hold on the continent was strengthened by the strategic moves of some companies to establish a car manufacturing plant on the continent itself, or by acquiring company shares in some of the most popular carmakers in Europe. Most notable among these Japanese car manufacturers is Toyota, which has established itself not only in Europe but in several continents as well, including North America. Its foothold on the foreign car market scene is such that it is now not possible to have a complete line of car models without a Toyota model in it. Today, it is common to see Toyota cars being driven all across Europe.

The Europe car market right now is attempting to avoid the ill fortune that the Unites States has suffered to Japanese cars, which managed to capture a huge chunk of the American car market. In the face of the expanding Japanese car sales contrasted against their own sliding market share, the European manufacturers are taking a more combative stance. Respective governments are imposing protectionism measures against Japanese imports while several carmakers are producing car models aimed squarely at the Japanese. Combined with good management, these measures could well save the European car industry, which cannot start a price wire on the continent because of a growing economic recession in Japan. This has caused car sales in that country to fall down badly. However, the Europe car market is not expected to gain on them anytime soon.

However, the Japanese are still positive about their European stand. Even with their countrys recession, they still have the upper hand in the American market, which will offset whatever setback they may encounter in Europe. The Europe car market on the other hand is trying to match the Japanese products car for car. By doing these necessary procedures, they were able to gain back a portion of the market that the Japanese had taken away from them.
